Luckily the specifics have faded with time, I just remember a lot of high-decibel drama and tears, and precocious kids whom I'd have definitely fought with, as a child, had they really existed! Among the songs, Tumhari nazar kyon khafa ho gayi, I've liked and the rest were mainly interesting for the lyrics :) - they have interesting range, without being anywhere near Sahir's best work. Nor Ravi's, come to think of it.

I saw your post on ghazals, one of my favourite forms of poetry! It was so nice to have the rules explained, there is a tendency to call any 'serious' and slow composition a ghazal! The ones on your post are among my favourites! Jurm-e-ulfat is such a masterpiece, for instance. Roshan and Sahir, another "duo" who were splendid together.

And you have Sharyar and Kaifi Azmi featured there! Another favourite is Shahryar's "Aap ki yaad aati rahi" from Gaman.

Here's one of my own, in English though. The takhallus was both great fun and a challenge, as I didn't want to put my name directly.

http://www.caravanmagazine.in/Story/420/Sole%C3%A1--from-Lyon-to-Angers.html

PS: sorry it took me so long to reply, but I've just returned from work. It was a long, long day!Karthika Naïrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04805500485440404664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4593383688739486698.post-7212293455396446732012-03-12T10:23:48.969+01:002012-03-12T10:23:48.969+01:00Considering Sahir is my favourite lyricist, and Ra...Considering Sahir is my favourite lyricist, and Ravi composed some of my favourite songs, I can't think of anything to add. You've said it all, Karthika - and so perfectly. I enjoyed reading this post. And the songs you've selected are among my favourites (though, to be honest, I must admit I don't care for the songs of Do Kaliyaan - perhaps it's because I found the movie to be a bit of a pain, but even otherwise, the songs just don't float my boat).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
